Double Arch Edentulous Cases
Photographs
Master Casts / Digital Impressions
First, the patient must have well-fitting dentures with satisfactory esthetics, phonetics, and occlusion.
You have two options to transfer the 3D scans of the patient’s edentulous arches, teeth, & bite.
Option 1: Use the patient existing Dentures
Option 2: Duplicate the patient existing dentures
Step 1: Apply at least 7 Radiographic Markers to the labial, buccal, palatal/lingual, and tuberosity aspects of the denture/duplicate cameo surface.
Step 2: Using an intra-oral scanner (IOS), scan the dentures Extra-orally including teeth, intaglio and cameo surfaces.
Bite Registration
Place the Radiographically Marked Patient’s Denture/Duplicate Denture in the Patient’s Mouth.
Have the patient practice bitint into a repeatable position and stay closed.
Scan the patient bite with dentures/duplicate dentures by an intra-oral scanner (IOS)
* Bite Registration is the RESPONSIBILITY of the Treating Dentist
* Surgical Guide Studio Builds the case according to the bite and VDO registered by the treating dentis
* Surgical Guide Studio DOES NOT change the bite on the articulator, NOR builds the case at an altered VDO outside the patient mouth.
CBCT SCAN
Now that you have completed steps for Master Impressions & Bite Registration, escort the patient wearing the radiographically marked dentures/duplicate denture to the CT Scanner.
Scan the patient with Bite in ✅ closed position.
* Use the CT Scanner Chin Rest
* Please Do Not Use the Bite Fork as it will make the CT in an ❌ Open Position. You can also CBCT each radiographically marked denture/duplicate denture alone (dual scan technique) to ensure perfect records Merge
For a better image, place cotton rolls between the patient’s teeth and cheeks.
Export Dicomm Files (.dcm) into a separate folder, zip it and upload it.
* Make sure the patient does not move during scanning. Asking the patient to close the eyes will help in maintaining a steady position.
* Make sure the CBCT Scanner Arms do not bump into the patient’s shoulders when rotating.
